Fuel Pressure Regulators

A fuel pressure regulator sits between your fuel pump and fuel rail and holds the system at a set pressure. The fuel pump usually pushes more fuel than the engine needs, so the regulator bleeds off excess fuel through a return port back to the fuel tank while maintaining steady high pressure at the injectors. Consistent fuel pressure means consistent fuel delivery, which is what your EFI system needs to run right.

It depends. FiTech throttle body systems have a built-in regulator, and regulated in-tank pump modules include one too. If you're running an inline fuel pump or a standard in-tank module without a built-in regulator, you'll need an external fuel pressure regulator to hold the correct PSI. Port injection systems like the Ultra Ram also use one. Run a fuel filter ahead of the regulator to keep debris out of the system.

A fuel pressure regulator sets and holds your system pressure at a target PSI. A fuel pressure damper doesn't set pressure. It smooths out the small pressure pulses created by the injectors firing and the pump running. The regulators on this page control your actual fuel pressure, which is what an EFI conversion needs.

The single outlet regulator feeds one fuel line to the throttle body or fuel rail. The dual outlet regulator has two outlets to feed both sides of a dual fuel rail setup, which is common on port injection and higher output builds. Both adjust from 30 to 70 PSI and use a vacuum port to reference manifold pressure.

The vacuum port lets the regulator reference manifold pressure so fuel pressure tracks engine load. Under boost or heavy load, the regulator raises fuel pressure to keep the pressure drop across the injectors constant. This keeps your air-fuel ratio stable whether you're at idle or wide-open throttle.

If you want the simplest install, the tight-fit 54000 works in tight spaces. If you want to set and monitor pressure, the 54001 single outlet includes a 0-100 PSI gauge and fittings.
